Return of the Taliban: Classic Guerrilla Warfare vs U.S. Power Pakistani observers say that the TALIBAN
have returned and are carrying out classic guerrilla warfare against the
U.S. It's a slow grinding process in which the Taliban use pin pricks
against the powerful American military machine and melt away.
Very different from Al-Qaida, the Taliban try not to sustain any losses.
Pakistanis say that the U.S is suffering losses almost on a daily
basis. Like the Soviets, the U.S. does not want to admit its losses.
Like the Soviets, the U.S. is building an "Afghan" mercenary army which is
likely to join the freedom fighters once large scale fighting breaks out.
AS MEDIA WATCHERS, NEW TREND OBSERVERS NOTE THAT THE U.S. MAJOR MEDIA DID
NOT REPORT OR DISCUSS THE INCIDENTS (of US casualties).
As Americans know, American soldiers are the most important people in the
world. Here they are being hurt and not being given ANY coverage in the
media. WHY? [MSNBC and FOX NEWS mentioned the incidents in the running
scripts under their screens but did not report them on the screen.]
According to wire services, on January 15, an American army armored
vehicle was blown up in southeastern Afghanistan (31 miles northeast of
Jalalabad). The U.S. army claimed that only TWO U.S. soldiers were injured
in the attack but the injuries were not serious. In a separate incident,
another U.S. armored vehicle was blown up in the same region. This time no
casualties were mentioned. However the incidents were serious enough for
the U.S. to call in B-52 attacks on the suspected positions of the
assailants. THE B-52s DROPPED HEAVY BOMBS BUT SEEM TO HAVE MISSED ANY
SUSPECTED TARGETS.
About the same time, AP reported that a U.S. soldier was shot and
seriously wounded in broad daylight in Kandahar. The assailant escaped.
The U.S. however claimed that the attack was not by hostile forces.
