Details of Torture by US Troops in Guantanamo Bay

CANBERRA : Former Taliban mujahid, Jaan Muhammad, who was among those released from illegal US custody in Guantanamo Bay has described the torture meted out the 'bastion of Human Rights' upon their prisoners in an interview released in an Australian newspaper.

Apparently, the US have been taking lessons from that well known Humanitarian Abdul-Rasheed Dostum.

Jaan Muhammed said that during imprisonment, the feet of prisoners were repeatedly hit with heavy rods and they were constantly given mental torture - specifically that US guards did not allow the prisoners to sleep.

He was also tortured with various physical punishments. If interrogators were not satisfied with the answers to their questions, they would remove the prisoners handcuffs and hang them in the shape of a cross (crucifix) in the scorching sun until they lose conscious due to the oppressiveness of the severe heat.

Jaan Muhammad is native of Kandahar, and was unable to describe the full range of torture methods utilised by the US government on their prisoners.
