Qaradawi: Egypt refused to receive delegates of
federation of Muslim scholars
08/01/2009
DOHA, (PIC)-- Dr. Yousef Al-Qaradawi, the
head of the world federation of Muslim scholars, on Wednesday said that Egypt
refused to receive a delegation from the federation in order to meet with
Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak and said that the conditions are not
appropriate for such a visit.
In a press conference held in Doha, Dr.
Qaradawi stated that the delegation urged the leaders of the visited countries
(Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan and Turkey) to mediate with the Egyptian
regime and pressure it to open the Rafah crossing and allow the passage of
humanitarian aid to the Gaza people.
The noted Muslim scholar affirmed that the
delegation highlighted during its visits to Arab countries that the Palestinian
resistance in Palestine must continue and receive all support, and stressed the
need to confront the Israeli attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause.
He also pointed that most of the leaders
positively responded to the delegation's demands and some of them expressed
willingness to hold the Arab summit. |
